Rocket Wars is a fast paced, chaotic, multi-player space battle.

This review will mimic the game itself: Short, sweet and straight to the point. Rocket Wars is no fancy graphical and technological indie game genius, but is fun to play, granted your not photosensitive to flashy boom booms going across your screen.

Rocket Wars is a top down multiplayer shoot em up game. It is quite strange to me that the central focus for this title is that it favors you to play with people, considering it’s a small game, it also has a small player base. So with that being said, good luck finding a full server or even a match to play against anyone. Having been unsuccessful in finding a multiplayer match, I toss that idea aside! I said screw it! BOT MODE IT IS!

Rocket Wars

THE WOODCHIPPER JUDGES ALL!!!

Now the review can truly start. You will start in a gigantic circle of mayhem against 4 other robots in different colored ships. Ding ding ding! GAME ON! The mayhem begins. Firstly, all the robots just spin out of control and begin spreading bolts of white lightning your way, and every now and then a little ball with a symbol appears. Huzaaa! That is your ticket to demolishing your foes. From laser beam, high powered rockets to sniper shots and a scatter gun, there are many ways to destroy the competition. Be careful though, all this mayhem truly has a way of disorienting you to the point you cant find your own ship. When you are fighting off 3 other crazy spaceships that are throwing rockets and lasers all over the place, it’s easy to lose where you are in the battle. There is a customization option for your ship to help distinguish yourself from the fight, but it seems you must earn the right to express yourself through the multiplayer mode. So dead end there. The music is retro and adds a nice video game 80s tone to the mix, but not much can be said for the sound effects. There’s pew pew pews and whooshes and booms, but that’s about it. Like I said, it’s a simple game.

Rocket Wars

This tiny arena Circle has alot of colors in it…

Aside from a sadly dead multiplayer, which I would assume was the intended selling point of this game, it is a nice little time waster. That is, if you feel like raging all over the place after that long night of work, or blowing off steam after the professor flunked your amazing art project.

I’m going to give this a 70 on the scale of strawberry taste. It’s not the sweetest berry you have eaten, despite that it passes for dessert. It’s just that there is something missing.
