A charming little game.

Hey Radical Readers, I’m Jesus Palencia and today I want to talk about a little game called Mimi’s Delivery Dash. It’s a little PC game created by SaKo, Nathan Scott, and Martin Wright with color palettes by Hyohnoo as part of Itch.io’s Movie Game Jam 2018 and is inspired by, the Studio Ghibli film, Kiki’s Delivery Service.

The game has a simple premise where you pick up items, such as mail, parcels, or food, and deliver them to their destination to receive payment. Also, there is a time limit of 3 minutes, so be quick in making as many deliveries as you can to get a lot of money (my average is about $12 and some change). It’s a pretty short game, but one thing to consider is that it was made in 10 days. Indeed, I am very impressed for what the team created in that little time. As mentioned before, gameplay is very simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. For instance, there are crows that will attack you if you get close to them and slow you down. Therefore, avoid them at all costs or dash away from them as far as you can go.

The controls are simple and very responsive. At the moment, they have a few options for each command (such as the set shown below), but there is no control customization. However, they might plan to add control customization in the future. Also, I love the pixel art of the whole game because it looks so adorable and I’m not a huge fan of pixel art; so, when I say I love it, I REALLY love it. The music is also really great and fits the tone of the game perfectly.

I like that it’s short because for someone like me, who might want to play something really quick like during a class break or if I need a quick distraction from my homework. If you’re looking for a quick PC game to play without the fear you’re going to get sucked in for two hours, then this game will suffice.

Overall, if you’re interested in playing Mimi’s Delivery Dash yourself, you can download it here. It’s pay what you want, so if you really enjoy the game or are feeling generous, send the team a little tip their way.

If you need another reason to play this game, just know that Mimi’s Delivery Dash actually placed 1st in Itch.io’s Movie Game Jam 2018. Congratulations to SaKo, Scott, and Wright!
