Life is Strange 2 is back with the latest chapter- Rules! Our friends at Square Enix have done it again!
Each episode of Life is Strange adds another layer to this already complex story and Rules is not exception. Sean and Daniel have continued to live in the woods while Daniel perfects his abilities. Thankfully for them, between the end of Episode One and Episode Two, they found an abandoned cabin. The downside to their situation is it is a true Northwestern winter and even worse Daniel has a cold that appears to be getting worse. Sean will need to do something quick to keep his brother alive. Will he risk exposing themselves by going to town for medicine or will Mother Nature provide a solution? Either way it will be risky.
The episode starts by helping Daniel work on training his abilities further and the only other thing we knew going into the chapter was that Captain Spirit himself will be making an appearance. Last time we saw Chris he fell from his tree house and realized he had the ability to move things with his mind and prevented himself from hitting the ground.
The game was a bit faster paced than most of the other game chapters but this great for the story. Most of the other Life is Strange games take place over the course of a couple days total but this episode alone covers multiple weeks in their travels. Of course the sped up pacing is meant to avoid the boredom of repeating the same daily tasks and allows you to enjoy more of the overall story. Overall the episode is a great addition to the story but left me with a few spoiler related comments.

I understand why the dog had to die, but seeing the mountain lion take the puppy away was a sick surprise. The reason the dog had to go is because when getting to their grandparent’s house you quickly find out that they are quite uptight and there is no way they would have let them bring the dog with them and would have made accepting their help much harder. The grandparents are a bit much though. You quickly realize that the grandmother is the same woman that was trying to help Chris in Captain Spirit. What blew my mind was the fact that Chris’ powers were actually Daniel watching him fall and protecting him. Like an idiot I went with the lie to protect Daniel but turns out that it was the wrong choice all along. The Episode ended with Chris running in front of a police car to try to use his powers to help Daniel and Sean escape. The last thing you see of Chris is the police cruiser swerving him and hitting him. From what I could see he did not get up.
We are only on episode 2 of 5 and already lost two members of the cast. Where are we going to go next? Who else has to die before Daniel and Sean are safe? Only time will answer these questions and you’ll be sure we will be there to talk about it.
