It was devastating to watch Konami slowly crumble and fall apart as a leading video game company over the years.

With less games, more pachinko machines, cancelling Silent Hills (P.T.), and their grand event of cutting all ties with Hideo Kojima, the mastermind of the Metal Gear franchise.

Canning Kojima was the worst thing they could have done and as of E3 2016, maybe we should send them a thank you note. Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions,  have put forth their first game, which was generously funded by Sony, Death Stranding.

As per the usual for Kojima, it’s enigmatic, symbolic, and dark. Watch the reveal trailer, again if you like, and try to make sense of it. The powerful imagery of oil, the ocean, breached marine life, a baby, footprints in the sand, and five mystical figures in the sky, what does it all mean?! According to Kojima, it’s all a part of the game. Not that it’s in the game but just by watching the trailer and questioning the importance of anything you notice, you are already playing the game.

Huh? Playing the game by watching the trailer? For those of you thoroughly familiar with Kojima’s work, or even just a fan of Metal Gear, symbolism and allegory are essential elements in his games. So people are analyzing the trailer and Kojima’s tweets for any clues and attempt to connect any and all dots. There’s are several theories already popping up on Reddit.

Kojima is really a genius and it will feel good to play a game he’s put his heart and soul into.

Not only do I look forward to Death Stranding but I also look forward to future Kojima Production projects. A lot of people in the gamer community feel that AAA gaming companies have been neglecting games for money so it feels good to know that not all hope is lost.

What do you think the trailer means? What are its innermost secrets? Let us know in the comments below!
