Darksiders 2 is just as awesome as before, but now we are running on the current generation of systems, plus the new name alone makes it worth the cost- Darksiders 2: The Deathinitive Edition!
Darksiders 2, as the name implies, is the second remastered title in the series to be published by THQ Nordic. Years ago, the fate of this series was entirely in limbo. Two installments in, with one or two more in early stages of planning, and THQ was on the verge of closing its doors. It was a dark time for many such games but Nordic purchased the rights, immediately began working to support issues with the original release of Darksiders 2 and more recently releasing the title again for Xbox One and PS4.
The first time playing the game I marveled at how perfect the casting was for the protagonist, Death, none other than Michael Wincott. Wincott you may remember from such movies as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Crow, The Three Musketeers and more recently West World. His voice was absolutely perfect for Death, just the right mix of cunning, charisma, strength and malice.
Loading the game for a second-first time it felt like welcoming an old friend, overcome with memories of the battles we’ve shared. Thankfully the game still had the tips for controls because I did not remember how to dodge. Soon I was back to hacking and slashing my way through my foes and enjoying every minute of it.
So now let’s discuss the price and how much it is actually worth. On the digital stores you can pick up the game for $29.99, which is a steal. It’s like walking into a store, finding the item you really wanted and seeing that it is on sale for 50% off. Anytime you can get a game worth full price for this low is a win for everyone, well not the publisher because of smaller profit margins but for everyone else.
