Xbox One multiple game review part 1 featuring Wargroove

It’s rare that I get to sit and enjoy a game on Xbox One but in this series we will examine the few I have been able to play.

We are here as part of a series that covers several Xbox One games in one quick snapshot! Part 1 discusses Wargroove, Unruly Heroes, Treasure Stack and Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark.

Wargroove

It has been years since I have played a traditional tactics styled roleplaying game, the best of which were Final Fantasy Tactics and Jeanne D’Arc. These are some massive shoes to fill and I’ll do my best not to hold it against Wargroove. One of the best things about this game is that the fights don’t rely on characters you must keep alive or risk losing them forever, they feature troops that fulfill various functions. Sure you don’t want to lose troops but one cavalry unit is the same as the next. This game will easily take a dozen or more hours to complete which gives you a lot of life for the game but at time suffers as some missions are so long you may take an hour or longer to complete them. This is not a game for a quick pick me up.

Unruly Heroes

At a glance this looks like a Rayman title but within a couple minutes you will see that it clearly is not. You control four different fighters, each with their own abilities and fighting styles. At times the combat can be a bit hectic but with some well timed dodges can be overcome quickly. Death comes easy in this game so don’t be surprised if you have to replay many sections again as you attempt to learn from your mistakes.

Treasure Stack

This is a treasure themed version of Puzzle Fighter, Doctor Mario or Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. I’m sure there are other noteworthy examples of this game type but those are the only ones I’ve played. Players must combine stacks of treasure with the same colored keys. The more of the same color stacked together the more  points you will earn. Rather simple concept and can be quite addicting as you try to build those combos to really destroy the person sitting next to you.

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark

I was surprised when I started this game to discover that it is yet another Tactics styled game. Unlike the previous tactics game in this list Fell Seal has a much more in depth character system. However this game also has a focus on strategy instead of grinding your characters for experience to over power them. The game follows seven immortal heroes that protect the world. One has decided to step down and each hero marks someone in the world and these marked characters are all competing to take over the seventh spot.

Which of these Xbox One titles have you played? Which did you enjoy?
