Pokémon Let’s Go, has officially been announced, along with another Pokémon Game. We’ve got the details all in one place!
Last week was a big week for Nintendo and Pokémon fans alike! With various announcements and releases there’s something to look forward to for everyone! Check out what’s headed our way.
Pokémon Let’s Go: Pikachu and Eevee
Pokémon Let’s Go is essentially a fusion between Pokémon Yellow, originally released for the Nintendo Gameboy, and Pokémon Go. Instead of your standard wild Pokémon fights and captures, these encounters will now function similarly to how they do in Pokémon Go. No fighting, but rather a Poké Ball tossing segment in an attempt to catch the wild Pokémon. The story and locations seem to be the same as they were in Pokémon Yellow’s original release, but will of course be featuring updated graphics and some changes in features I’m sure. The big draw to Pokémon Let’s Go is it’s connectivity with, you guessed it, Pokémon Go. Players will be able to transfer first generation Pokémon from Pokémon Go into Pokémon Let’s Go to join in on the adventure! Joy-Cons can be split for a sort of co-op, hopefully allowing both players to connect their Pokémon Go accounts. No confirmation on that aspect just yet.
Two versions of the game will be released this November 16th, one featuring Eevee and the other Pikachu. Much like in Pokémon Yellow, either Pikachu or Eevee will be your starting partner, and walk behind your character. There is some additional yet optional hardware coming out with the game as well…
Poké Ball Plus
The trailer (featured below) advertises that the Poké Ball Plus will act as a controller for the game. Given the simplistic controls, players will only need either one Joy-Con or one Poké Ball Plus. It features a joystick, motion controls, a rumble feature, and lights. It will even be capable of being loaded up with a Pokémon to take on the go. Much like the Pokéwalker released with HeartGold and SoulSilver versions.
Apparently this controller will also function as a Pokémon Go Plus device, as well. Cross platform connectivity is truly coming through with Pokémon Let’s Go. Check out the trailer for the game and the controller below!
The upcoming but still untitled game
Rumors for some time now have been swirling around the franchise on when the next mainline entry in the series would see the light of day. With a tweet from the official Pokémon Twitter, we now know that it should be out in the later half of 2019. Many fans were upset that the first Pokémon RPG to hit the Nintendo Switch is so heavily focused on Pokémon Go, but 2019 isn’t a long to wait for another standard styled game (though the tweet did not confirm whether the unreleased game would be for the Nintendo 3DS or the Nintendo Switch).
Pokémon Let’s Go is a different, but very fun looking entry in the series and seems to be rewarding the Pokémon Go players who have stuck around thus far. It may even bring some new and old players into the mix too. It’s the perfect appetizer to that main Pokémon course next year! In the mean time, Switch owners can check out the newly released, mobile styled Pokémon Quest!
