Furi is a game filled with tense, pulse pounding action from The Game Bakers.
Furi is one of the hardest games I have ever played. Period. The game centers around one simple dynamic- Boss Fights. Each fight is overwhelmingly intense (for those of us that are impatient and just want to hack and slash our way to victory) and follows patterns including visual or audio cues to differentiate between the various attacks coming your way. For the patient and dedicated players you will learn to identify what each cue is and how to counteract them rather quickly. If you don’t pay attention to the indicators YOU WILL DIE. Simple as that.
The game is absolutely beautiful. It looks like the love child of Tron and Afro Samurai. Visually, the world is astounding. Looking at the details can make the battles that much harder as you fail to notice a cue because you are looking at pulsing energy balls that were just shot at you. Don’t take my word for it, here is what The Game Bakers had to say about the game itself.
Features (details from The Game Bakers website):
- You can slash with your sword, shoot with your gun, dodge, and parry. That’s about it.
- You can also charge the slash attack, the gun shot, and the dodge.
- Once you’ve got that, you can play!
- There’s no limit to how much you can improve, it’s simple and deep.
- The challenges are based on a simple formula: get warned – react – punish.
- The depth comes from the differences between the guardians. It’s about how you play a few moves differently to beat a different opponent.
- Default difficulty is Furi mode. Beat the game, and you’ll unlock Furier (hardcore). Beat it in Furier, you’ll unlock a Speedrun mode (compete against time or hits – with leaderboards). There is also an easier mode.
- [The Game] is about you, the hero, regaining your freedom. While you piece the story together it raises questions on what’s worth fighting for.
- Double vinyl and digital OST, tee-shirts, poster available on the [Merch] Store: furi.hitpoint.tv
The video below highlights some of the crazy action and the gorgeous world.
The Breakdown~ Should you buy it?
If you are a person that likes intense fighting (I know there are some out there, otherwise Dark Souls would not be doing as well as it is) and gorgeous worlds then this game is for you. At $19.99 on the Xbox One site/store the game is a bargain (assuming you meet both of the criteria above). If you are like me and prefer story more than a challenge then I would wait until it is on sale for $7.50 or less.
